TERMS & CONDITIONS OF HIRE

  • Normal Site hours are from 7h30 until 17h00 (Hours worked before or after these times are considered to be “overtime”, irrelevant of the machine hours worked during these times).
  • A minimum of 8 hours per day must be signed for.
  • A minimum of 6 hours on short Friday’s, weekends and public holidays which is until 14h00, must be signed for. Thereafter the minimum of 8 hours will apply.
  • A minimum of 4 hours will be charged for rain days unless otherwise agreed.
  • An extra fee will be levied on Sundays and Public holidays.
  • Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd does not warrant the suitability of equipment for any specific use.
  • Supervision by a duly authorised representative (site supervisor) onsite is the Hirer’s responsibility.
  • All responsibility, direct or implied, relating to the machinery or its operator rests with the Hirer while onsite, until the machine has been booked off site and the time sheet has been signed.
  • Provided that breakdowns are properly reported, breakdown time will be deducted from the hire account from time of notification until the vehicle and equipment are operational again. The customer shall report breakdowns to Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd as soon as possible. In the absence of such a report, it shall be assumed that the plant is fully functional as intended.
  • Consumables shall be charged for unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. For the sake of clarity and without limiting the generality of the term “consumable” it is taken to refer to items such as ground engaging tools, teeth, cutting edges, and the like.
  • Tyres must be inspected by the Hirer or an authorized person representing the Hirer upon arrival onsite. Abnormal usage of tyres will be for the Hirer’s account and poor site conditions causing slashed and flat tyres will be for the Hirer’s account.
  • Time lost due to operators not reporting on time will be deducted from hiring time, provided that Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd are notified timeously and properly.
  • Should the operator not report for work on time, the Hirer shall notify Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd no later than 10h00, so that Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd may arrange for a substitute operator. On no condition may any other than the person supplied by Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd operate the plant. Should the Hirer fail to report the operator’s absence as aforesaid, it will be assumed that the operator has reported for work on time and that the plant is operational.
  • Out of Area Site – Transport and accommodation for operators are the Hirer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed.
  • When hiring on dry rate, units are delivered with a full tank of fuel and should be returned full. Any additional fuel will be charged to the customer.
  • Supervision onsite is the Hirer’s responsibility.
  • The Hirer shall notify Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd in writing of the completion of the hire at least 24 hours prior to such completion. Should the customer fail to do so, an additional 8 hours shall be charged for such shorter notice.

  • Prices exclude VAT.
  • Should the Hirer request a bucket change, this will be charged at R9.50 per km plus R500.00 per hour.
  • Yellow Metal Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd, its employees and directors will not be held liable for damage to any underground services such as underground pipes, electrical cabling, and the like.
